Depo-Provera Meningioma Lawsuits: Do I Qualify To File a Claim?

Recent studies have shown that women who used Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate) for birth control are five-times more likely to develop a type of benign (or non-cancerous) brain tumors known as meningioma.

Meningioma brain tumors can cause women to experience symptoms that may include headaches, seizures, hearing problems, vision problems, memory loss, loss of smell, and weakness in the arms or legs.

Although only a handful of lawsuits against Depo-Provera have been filed so far, legal experts predict that the total number of claims in this litigation during 2025 and beyond could stretch into the thousands.

In order to file a Depo-Provera compensation claim, women who used the birth control shot must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. They were injected with the Depo shot (either Depo-Provera, the subcutaneous version of the shot known as Depo SubQ Provera 104, or “authorized generic” versions of the birth control shot, known as medroxyprogesterone acetate);
  2. They had at least least one year of exposure to Depo-Provera, which typically includes four injections;
  3. They have been diagnosed with cerebral meningioma brain tumors by a doctor.

Women who were injected with Depo-Provera for at least one year and were diagnosed with birth control shot brain tumors can contact an attorney to find out if they qualify to receive compensation and begin the process of taking legal action.
