Hundreds of lawsuits filed by Zantac, ranitidine users diagnosed with cancer

In 2019, the heartburn medications Zantac and ranitidine were recalled and studies showed that they were contaminated with a chemical that could increase the cancer risk of patients who were treated with these drugs. Class action lawsuit alleges Eisai, Arena hid cancer risk of Belviq weight loss drug

Eisai Inc. and Arena Pharmaceuticals — the manufacturers of the drugs Belviq and Belviq XR (lorcaserin) — are facing a class action lawsuit alleging that the weight loss drugs increase the cancer risk of patients who used them. The lawsuits, filed in March at the U.S. District Court in White Plains, New York, is seeking class action status on behalf of patients who used Belviq for weight loss and were diagnosed with cancer. Bayer faces obstacles in efforts to settle Roundup cancer lawsuits

As of December 2019, Bayer was facing at least 42,000 lawsuits involving the weedkiller Roundup. Many of these lawsuits were filed on behalf of consumers who were diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or other types of cancer after being exposed to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup. CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, and other pharmacy chains recall Zantac and ranitidine over cancer concerns

Several nationwide pharmacy chains have pulled Zantac from stores over concerns that the popular heartburn drug and its generic equivalent, ranitidine, could cause cancer. CVS, Target, Walgreens, Walmart, and other pharmacies have voluntarily recalled Zantac and ranitidine following a warning by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that these drugs were contaminated with a chemical that could increase the risk of cancer for patients being treated for conditions caused by too much stomach acid.
