Consumers who used the weight loss drugs Belviq or Belviq XR and were diagnosed with cancer may qualify to file a lawsuit and receive compensation for their illness. Several lawsuits by patients who were diagnosed with cancer have been filed against Eisai Inc. and Arena Pharmaceuticals — the manufacturers of Belviq — after the weight loss drug was recalled by the FDA. Elmiron lawsuits filed across the U.S. by patients with eye damage

Several studies published in recent years have linked the interstitial cystitis drug Elmiron (pentosan polysulfate sodium) to an increased risk of eye damage, including loss of vision, retinal toxicity, pigmentary maculopathy, and even blindness.

In the wake of these studies, several Elmiron users who developed vision problems after using the drug have filed lawsuits against its manufacturers, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Johnson & Johnson. (more…)

Sanofi, GSK face DOJ probe over possible fraud involving Zantac, ranitidine cancer risks

The manufacturers of Zantac (ranitidine) are facing a probe by the U.S. Department of Justice over allegations that they fraudulently failed to disclose that the heartburn drug was contaminated with the cancer-causing chemical NDMA. Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the two companies that manufacture Zantac, also face hundreds of lawsuits filed by patients who were diagnosed with cancer after using the drug or its generic equivalent, ranitidine. J&J, Janssen face class action lawsuit over permanent eye damage caused by Elmiron

A Nevada woman who suffered permanent damage to her retinas in both eyes after using the bladder drug Elmiron has filed a class action lawsuit against the manufacturers of the drug in Pennsylvania. Tina Pisco’s class action against Johnson & Johnson and Janssen Pharmaceuticals alleges that the drugmakers had known about the risk of eye damage associated with Elmiron for years, but failed to properly warn doctors and patients about these risks. Recent studies have shown that patients treated with the drug Elmiron over an extended period are at risk of developing retinal damage, vision loss, and even blindness. Court upholds verdict that Roundup caused California groundskeeper’s lymphoma cancer

The California Court of Appeals has upheld a multimillion-dollar verdict against Bayer and Monsanto in a lawsuit over the link between the weedkiller Roundup and lymphoma. The appeals court agreed with a jury’s verdict that former groundskeeper Dwayne “Lee” Johnson developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma from years of exposure to Roundup. The court also reduced the original damages award in the case to $20.5 million. (more…)

Proposed $10 billion Roundup lawsuits settlement announced by Bayer

Bayer recently announced that it will pay more than $10 billion to settle thousands of lawsuits involving the weedkiller Roundup.
