The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that the blood pressure medication Valsartan and other similar blood pressure medications may be contaminated with as many as four chemicals that can cause cancer in patients. Sanofi recalls Zantac OTC due to chemical contamination that may cause cancer

Sanofi has announced that it is recalling the popular heartburn drug Zantac OTC. The drugmaker made the announcement following tests that found that Zantac was contaminated with a chemical impurity that can increase the risk of cancer. (more…)

Zantac and ranitidine contaminated with cancer-causing chemical, FDA says

An investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has found that the heartburn drug Zantac and some generic versions of the drug are contaminated with a chemical that may cause cancer. Study shows rise in cancer cases among valsartan users after FDA recall

A recent study published in the medical journal Circulation found that there was a sharp rise in cancer diagnoses between 2017 and 2018 among patients taking the blood pressure drug valsartan. Study warns of increased cardiovascular, kidney disease risk with heartburn medications

A new study has found that patients taking a type of heartburn drugs known as proton pump inhibitors are more likely to develop fatal cardiovascular disease or chronic kidney disease. Germany joins other EU countries in banning Roundup over food, health concerns

Lawsuit by Illinois teenager alleges Juul gave him ‘lungs like a 70-year-old’

An Illinois teenager has filed a lawsuit against Juul over allegations that the company’s e-cigarettes caused severe damage to his lungs. The lawsuit, filed by 18-year-old Adam Hergenreder, alleges that Juul deliberately marketed flavored e-cigarettes to teenagers, putting them at risk of serious and permanent injuries to their lungs. FDA warns Juul over illegal e-cigarettes marketing

A U.S. House of Representatives committee says that Juul broke the law by illegally marketing its e-cigarettes as a safe alternative to tobacco cigarettes that could help smokers quit. The committee’s chairman called on the Food and Drug Administration to take “appropriate enforcement action” against Juul over the company’s illegal marketing practices. (more…)
