Elmiron lawsuits filed across the U.S. by patients with eye damage

Several studies published in recent years have linked the interstitial cystitis drug Elmiron (pentosan polysulfate sodium) to an increased risk of eye damage, including loss of vision, retinal toxicity, pigmentary maculopathy, and even blindness.

In the wake of these studies, several Elmiron users who developed vision problems after using the drug have filed lawsuits against its manufacturers, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Johnson & Johnson. (more…)

J&J, Janssen face class action lawsuit over permanent eye damage caused by Elmiron

A Nevada woman who suffered permanent damage to her retinas in both eyes after using the bladder drug Elmiron has filed a class action lawsuit against the manufacturers of the drug in Pennsylvania. Tina Pisco’s class action against Johnson & Johnson and Janssen Pharmaceuticals alleges that the drugmakers had known about the risk of eye damage associated with Elmiron for years, but failed to properly warn doctors and patients about these risks. Elmiron may cause serious eye damage, study finds

Recent studies have shown that patients treated with the drug Elmiron over an extended period are at risk of developing retinal damage, vision loss, and even blindness. According to one study, 25% of patients treated with Elmiron for five years or more developed vision problems as a result of taking the drug. (more…)
